Introduction to JCSPCOTA
The Junior Certificate School Programme is a Department of Education and Science Programme within the Junior Certificate aimed at students who may leave school early. A Teacher Professional Network for JCSP Co-ordinators and Teachers was established in 2009. Our aim is to support each other and assist each other professionally. This website, as it develops, will be an important means of communication, providing ongoing information on all aspects of our new network.
Annual Conferences 2010 and 2011.
Richard Coughlan, Department of Education and Skills, JCSP Inspector, was the keynote speaker at the 2010 Annual Conference. His presentation on "What to expect from a Whole School Evaluation of JCSP" is available to download here.
Dr. Brian Murphy, School of Education, University College Cork, delivered his keynote speech at the second JCSPCOTA Annual Conference 2011 on "Moving Beyond the Simple View of Reading Literacy in Classrooms: The Balanced Approach and Comprehension Strategy Instruction (CSI)".
